Questions tagged [interference]

Questions with this tag are about the symptoms, causes and cures of interference, which is defined as an undesirable electrical phenomenon competing with a desirable electrical signal(s).

Electrical energy is used in many forms:

  • DC Direct current, as from a battery
  • AC Alternating current, as from our power grid (high energy) or a microphone (low energy)
  • Ionized particles, x-rays, gamma rays, beta particles
  • Electromagnetic radiation, as in radio, transformers, microwave

Interference is the contamination of information/energy such that the original information/energy is less useful. Impairment may range from nuisance (static on an AM radio) to catastrophic (loss of life due a control system being disabled).

Use this tag when asking questions about the symptoms of interference, possible causes of interference, and possible cures.
