Coaxial cable is a shielded cable, used commonly for the transmission of television signals within a home. It consists of a solid copper core surrounded by a dielectric insulator, a woven metallic shield, and an outer plastic jacket.

Types:

RG-6, and RG-59 are the most likely types to be found in residential applications.
