I work at a university and we have a contract with Dell for machines, so i'm kinda stuck. I ordered a Dell 7440 Convertible with this display:

2-in-1 14.0" FHD+ (1920x1200)AR+AS,Touch,ComfView+,IPS,300 nits,FHD IR Cam+IP,WWAN,ALU,Pen support [391-BHJP] / GANI4T9

I think "AR" means anti-reflective. The German distributors website states "entspiegelt", which means exaclty that. I just received my machine and this is what i see:

reflection of myself in display

dell7440 next to lenovoX1Yoga

The matte display belongs to a Lenovo Yoga Convertible for comparison. The display is obviously reflective. I complained about the display being reflective and this is the reply: Yes it is an anti-reflective display but through the touch option, somewhat glossy.

Am i being fooled? What are other owners displays like?

Cheers, Johannes

You contract should *protect* you -- this seems like false advertising, and certainly would be covered under law. However, note that there are Dell 7440 models both with AR stated *and without*: https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/latitude-7440-laptop-or-2-in-1/spd/latitude-14-7440-2-in-1-laptop... could the wrong model have been shipped? – DrMoishe Pippik Aug 28 '23 at 21:02
  • This isn't really a technical problem, as I can see it. As in, you are asking for opinion and suggestion, not a technical solution to a technology problem. Your correct course of action should be to contact Dell or the purchaser. – music2myear Aug 28 '23 at 21:50
  • @DrMoishePippik I might not have been precise enough in stating that this is the 2-in-1 version. I see only one display option there. But you are right, all other options are advertised as anti-glare. – johannes Aug 29 '23 at 08:55
