  • This tells us what LunarVim says. What happens when you try to install NeoVim? This is what we need to know in order to figure this out for you. – music2myear Nov 16 '22 at 04:38

Another option is to install neovim from the makedeb package registry, which is a community-maintained repository containing extra packages for Debian/Ubuntu/apt/dpkg/.deb-based systems, and contains pre-built binaries for NeoVim.

At the time of writing this, it contains neovim 0.9.1, which is the latest upstream release too, while Debian unstable (sid) contains neovim 0.7.2

In case you struggle to set up makedeb (like I did), the instructions you need are at https://docs.makedeb.org/prebuilt-mpr/getting-started/#setting-up-the-repository After that, just do `sudo apt install neovim` and you're golden. – jpbochi Aug 25 '23 at 10:24

Solved by building neovim v0.8.0+ from source.
