The typical indie band showcase has 2 or 3 bands on a bill, and it usually makes logistic sense to share a backline (drums, bass amp, and maybe guitar amps). Some stage managers, or entire festivals, will even insist upon it. As a drummer, this…

Is it possible that a guitar could produce a low hum after replacing a pickup? I own a guitar that I (poorly) replaced a pickup on when I first started playing, and I was wondering if there was some sort of grounding that I could have messed up…

Upon loading a track, the CDJ 2000 automatically goes through very quickly (~5 sec per one min of track)

Whenever I load a new track, it automatically goes through very quickly, unless I touch the jog, in which case everything goes back to normal:  Any idea what could occur this issue to appear and how to fix it?

How do I fix a loose joint in a plastic recorder?

Another member of my band has a set of plastic recorders that are at least 20 years old and played often. Similar to this one: They're plastic, not wood, so shouldn't be subject to fluctuations from weather. But the joints (particularly the ones…

Reinforcing an acoustic guitar's bridge

Background: I recently found a guitar in a dumpster, a steel-string acoustic. It's not the best guitar--an Galveston WJ-750, probably discarded by someone who gave up on guitar lessons--but it has a decent sound, and I think I can find a home for…

Saxophone sometimes out of tune by nearly a fourth

Our band's saxophonist has a bizzare intermittent fault with his soprano sax (so normally uses his tenor or alto sax). Sometimes it's fine and sings beautifully, but other times it'll be out of tune by between a major third and a fourth. It's a Bb…
