The Levitin Effect is an aural memory phenomenon in which a person recalls music in the correct key, within two semitones.

The Levitin effect refers to the phenomenon, first documented by Dr. Daniel J. Levitin in 1994, that people – even those without musical training – tend to remember songs in the correct key. (Wikipedia: Levitin effect)

The effect is distinct from absolute pitch.
