Major renovations necessary to a Victorian house in southern England. It is the northern twin (semi-detached). Two-stories plus an as yet unseen attic, and a buried cellar. Each story having about 60 sq.m. Brick outer walls not yet insulated, slate roof, single-glazed windows (large). Two chimneys. Will need two new baths, central heating system (or at least a better system than the one at present which is fireplaces and stoves), new windows, and insulation. Am interested in green-alternatives and independence from the mains. Don't know about govt. incentives. Natural gas available. Plan to spend most of our time in a large kitchen area with exit to small, sunny garden. This kitchen area of about 25 sqm has at present a defunct stove and its chimney. All useful advice welcome.
