Vienna Game: Struggling to find a good response to 2...Nc6
I am starting to pick up the Vienna Game but I'm struggling to find a satisfactory response to 2...Nc6, the Max Lange Defense. The main moves according to theory here are 3. Nf3, 3. Bc4, 3. f4, 3. g3.

Who is the Zhuralev countergambit in the Vienna game named after?
It starts with 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Bb4, I checked in the 1984 edition of The Oxford Companion to Chess, but couldn't find anything about it.

Vienna Gambit vs King' Gambit
The Vienna game/gambit goes as 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 .. 3. f4...
Why is this considered much more solid/sound than just the King's gambit. It doesn't seem to me that the extra 2. Nc3 thrown in is doing anything?
