The style of players is how they play. The style of the opening is which players are suited best for it.

Players are aggressive, tactical, positional, passive, suicidal, ... The way they play defines their style. Openings can also be aggressive, tactical, positional, passive, suicidal, ... They are characterized by the lines which arise from them, and whether those offer aggressive, tactical, positional (and so on) chances.
