ExifTool is a free software program for reading, writing, and manipulating image, audio, and video metadata.

Written by Phil Harvey, exiftool is one of the most powerful command-line metadata extraction tools available. It supports hundreds of different file and metadata formats -- including many that are manufacturer-specific. The entire tool is well-documented and written in Perl.
