When I am trying to reinstall the software center the following message is coming. Command run:

sudo apt-get install software-center

output:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree       
Reading state information... Done
Package software-center is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

  • Try `sudo apt-get update` followed by `sudo apt-get install software-center`. – g_p Jan 15 '15 at 16:29
  • when I do that a lot errors and warning messages are displayed...and after reading every archive packages "unable to connect to the proxy" is displayed – Gorja Jan 15 '15 at 16:42
