In 2020, I have Lenovo that was preinstalled with Ubuntu. I have used my computer all the time since I bought it. I have much, but not all, of my data, backed up on an external hard drive as be my data. Recently, I tried to update to a new version of Ubuntu. Idiotically, I did not save my all my most recent data to my external hard drive before re-updating. The update was aborted because of some glitches in my system.
I folded down the screen of my computer. Later when I went to log in to my computer, I could not log on to my computer as anymore. When I restarted the computer it did not boot up. I had to choose to reboot from the factory default.
Is there any way to retrieve my data at this point? Or is this just a hard lesson learned?
