I bought a Sony WXB700 bluetooth earbuds.

I am using ubuntu 20.04.

They pair with my machine. I am located 30cm away from my computer and in some positions I get sound, in others I do not.

The bluetooth never pairs off... I would like to know what can I do to solve this problem...

In my old laptop (with ubuntu 18.04) they work without a problem.

I have looked into pavucontrol and everything seems to be Ok

  • Someone in the last few days has I believe the same earbuds and it was an issue with the Bluetooth in the earbuds being a different version then the computer. Earbuds were version 5 and the computer version 4. Did you search the site before posting the question? – David Sep 29 '21 at 10:24
  • Look up how to identify the Bluetooth chipset in your new laptop. Add the chipset information to your question. – user535733 Sep 29 '21 at 10:27
  • I ran `hciconfig -a` and the information regarding the bluetooth is `HCI Version: 5.1 (0xa) Revision: 0x100` which should be version 5 from [here](https://askubuntu.com/questions/591803/how-to-check-bluetooth-version-on-my-laptop) – Manuel Oliveira Sep 29 '21 at 10:47
