I know this question is already been asked, but i couldn't find a solution for it. I needed it for an interview and now I suddenly realized that my web cam isn't working. I tried with Google Meet, Cheese, and guvcview, it just says, no video device.

I tried solutions from this Integrated webcam not detected after update to 14.04 , but couldn't fix my issue

uname -r : 5.4.0-77-generic

i couldn't find any camera device with sudo lshw

and for ls -ltrh /dev/video* it gives ls: cannot access '/dev/video*': No such file or directory

I also looked in the BIOS for enabling Camera, but camera option isn't there in my BIOS,

and I don't know which is the camera key in my keyboard, so i tried everything from F1 to F12, with and without Fn, I am using hp laptop 15-bs0xx .

this is my lsusb

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 8087:0aa7 Intel Corp.
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 093a:2510 Pixart Imaging, Inc. Optical Mouse
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

I don't know what more to do,

Can someone help me please, its urgent for me.

  • You say it’s an HP device, which narrows down the options to only a few thousand different candidate cameras. Could you [edit] your question to include the model of the machine? This might make it easier to identify hardware. – matigo Jul 06 '21 at 14:40
