I just moved to a fresh installation of Ubuntu Studios 21.04. After adding the kxstudios repositories, and reinstalling much of the software i regularly use, apt started giving me errors like this

You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
avldrums.lv2 : Depends: avldrums.lv2-data (= 5:0.4.1) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

when trying to install avldrums.lv2-data:

$ sudo apt install avldrums.lv2-data

The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  avldrums.lv2-soundfont dpf-plugins-common kxstudio-lv2-extensions
  libprojectm2v5 libsmf0 lsp-plugins-jack lv2-dev mod-sdk-lv2
  projectm-data
Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove them.
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  avldrums.lv2-data
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 3 not upgraded.
28 not fully installed or removed.

lastly apt --fix-broken install doesn't fix it, giving the same error when trying to install avldrums.lv2-data.

I downloaded avldrums.lv2-data_0.4.1_all.deb from the kxrepo website to try and install it manually and it gave the first error. Why is apt no longer letting me install software and how can I fix this?

  • Why would you expect this to work? Why not ask "the kxstudios" people? Do you understand software packaging and installation? – waltinator May 09 '21 at 23:19
  • I was trying to satisfy the dependency. Why is one package messing up all of apt? Why wont apt install the dependency? Honestly I don't have a strong understanding of packages and installation, hence why I asked. But I guess i will ask the kxstudios people, maybe they will be more helpful – Stephi May 09 '21 at 23:59

Does this answer your question? [dpkg error: "trying to overwrite file, which is also in..."](https://askubuntu.com/questions/176121/dpkg-error-trying-to-overwrite-file-which-is-also-in) – karel May 10 '21 at 02:58
