O Socrates! Now as the guest of Zeus
Thou drinkest; thou, whom gods have called the wise,
With godlike wisdom. Nor didst thou refuse,
"When Athens offered thee the hemlock draught.
But, with thy mouth, herself hath poison quaffed.
