Why “delta” chords?
Why are major seventh chords called delta chords and written with a delta symbol, like CΔ7 or CΔ? Do engravers consistently use Δ to mean a seventh chord (such that Δ7 is redundant) or do some use Δ simply to mean major?

Why does the first diminished 7th in this progression not resolve?
So, I wrote this pastoral piece and it sounds good to me. One thing I am curious about though is why the first diminished 7th here builds up tension and more specifically why the restatement of C minor the first time does not feel like a resolution.…

7-Limit tuned 12 tones?
I tried to tune the 12 tones differently to gain more harmony. Rather than equal temperament or just intonation, I picked 7-limit tuning. Here're the tones:

C♯ = 21/20
D = 10/9
D♯/E♭ = 7/6
E = 5/4
F = 4/3
F♯/G♭ =…
