The HoverGallery extension adds ‎<hovergallery> tags that creates galleries exactly like the standard ones, except that when the mouse hovers over the thumbnails, the full-size images are displayed.

Installation

• Download and place the file(s) in a directory called HoverGallery in your extensions/ folder.
• Add the following code at the bottom of your LocalSettings.php file:

  wfLoadExtension( 'HoverGallery' );
  

•  Done – Navigate to Special:Version on your wiki to verify that the extension is successfully installed.

Usage

The ‎<hovergallery> tags are used exactly like the <gallery> tags. To create a basic hover gallery, simply write:

<hovergallery>
Image:abc.jpg
Image:xyz.jpg
</hovergallery>

By default, when the mouse hovers over a thumbnail, the full image is shown. But the full image may sometimes be too big, so there are two optional parameters, maxhoverwidth and maxhoverheight, that limit the max width and height of the full image. An example using those parameters would be:

<hovergallery maxhoverwidth=800 maxhoverheight=800>

All the standard gallery parameters are still available, for example:
